Pay attention to your Franklin Rock moments

A Franklin Rock moment is when a hint of the mystery of the universe is suddenly and unexpectedly revealed. Here’s an example. I was on Zoom with my marketing team discussing author access to bookstores. A specific bookstore came up and I mentioned that I had a professional colleague who knew the proprietors of that store. At that precise moment, my cell phone rang and the name of the colleague whom I had just referenced appeared on my cell screen. What made it a Franklin Rock moment was that the colleague calling me had, to my best recollection, never before called me on my cell. We spoke rarely, and when we did it was from our respective offices. We hadn’t even done that for months.

Everyone has these moments. We publicly shrug them off as coincidences, but privately we suspect that there is something more. All of us want to be taken seriously and don’t want to be labeled as anti-science or accused of believing in supernatural nonsense. When we suggest that there is some unseen or unknown force lurking behind the visible we run the risk of being intellectually banished by others.

As Franklin and Govinda agree in Franklin Rock, there is something else going on in this world. We can’t see or physically grasp this phenomenon, but it repeatedly makes itself known to each of us as Franklin Rock moments. At least for me—and my assumption is also for many of you—each Franklin Rock moment serves to solidify our silent confidence that there is more to life than meets the eye. Just what that something is, well, that remains a mystery, though like many of you I have my suspicions.

Pay attention to your own Franklin Rock moments. Write them down and, if you feel comfortable doing so, email them to me at info@greenbriarpublishing.com.
